As the Bangladesh tour looms ever closer, so does the amount of news coming out of Zimbabwe.

19 man squad named

A 19 man squad has been named. It is still unclear whether this is the 19 man squad for the actual series, or whether this was simply the group that went on the team bonding camp to Victoria Falls. Regardless, there were some notable absences. Tatenda Taibu has been suspended for 10 matches due to the alleged assault on a senior member of ZC staff, while no reasons have been announced for the absence of Brendan Taylor and Malcolm Waller.

Charles Coventry and Mark Vermeulen were both named.

Matabeleland announce USD$50,000 sponsorship deal

Westerns franchise CEO Stanley Staddon announced to the Bulawayo Chronicle that his franchise has made a $50,000 kit sponsorship deal. The company has net yet been revealed, but it shows promising signs for the new domestic league.

Douglas Hondo to be named new match analyst

In an interesting about turn after a conflicting announcement to The Zimbabwe Independent on July 9, Douglas Hondo is expected to juggle his existing assistant coach duties with match analyst duties.

India and West Indies to tour for an August tri-series

It could be a big month of cricket ahead with a tri-series involving Zimbabwe, India and West Indies expected to take place after the conclusion of the Bangladesh tour. If it goes ahead, it will be a huge money-spinner for not only Zimbabwe, but also for West Indies - it is thought that the prospect of this tri-series is what encouraged the striking players to return for the West Indies vs Bangladesh ODI series.
