A good domestic player, his success for his province never translated to success batting for Zimbabwe. A player who had the ability to slog at will, Strydom played a dozen ODI's for Zimbabwe, and averaged less than 15, leading to his dismissal from the side. He captained Westerns during the 2007 Faithwear Cup, but did not play any Logan Cup games. He scored a century in the final of the National League B Division for Queens Sports Club.
