Major Teams Represented: Zimbabwe, Southerns, Northerns, Harare Sports Club
Born: 1976
ODI Shirt Number: #12
Until his 2008 retirement, Gary Brent was the oldest member of the Zimbabwe squad, in his early 30's. He lost a lot of his pace, but is still an accurate, nagging medium pace bowler, at times very Glenn McGrath-esque. His performances in the ICC World Twenty20 are examples of this. He captained Southerns in the Logan Cup in 2007, and was the national team vice captain for a short period. He is a more than capable batsman, with a First Class century to his name. He scored an unbeaten 59 against South Africa in 2007, a game in which he won the man of the match award. He is a core member of the Zimbabwe squad. In 2008, he transferred to Northerns for their Logan Cup campaign. He retired from Zimbabwean cricket after 2 Logan Cup matches, expressing his desire to go to England and take up coaching.
