Coventry, Charles
Major Teams Represented: Zimbabwe, Westerns
Born: 1983
One of Zimbabwe's finest young players, his First Class debut in 1998 came by mistake, when he was in the right place at the right time when a Matabeleland player pulled out just before the match. Word has it that Coventry took his gear on the day "just in case it was needed"! He has played for Zimbabwe on several occasions, and is talented enough to be in the starting eleven. He had a falling out with former coach Kevin Curran that saw him left out of the World Cup squad. He played for Westerns in the 2007 Logan Cup with a high degree of success, including several high scores, leading many to believe that maybe he isn't quite finished with Zimbabwe cricket. In early 2008, he scored a triple century for his club in South Africa, but this year didn't return to Zimbabwe for the Logan Cup.
