At times, a very good batsman, but was one of many Mashonaland youngsters thrown into the provincial team during the 2006 club disputes. He was the cause of much controversy in 2007, when Graeme Cremer refused to play in a game Tichana was captaining because he was incapable of "setting fields for his bowling". Tichana needs to work more on his batting, but this will get better as he gets more experienced. He is a decent offspinner, with bowling averages in both forms of the game in the low 20's. He scored his maiden First Class century in 2008. He is one of they key batsmen for Royal Cricket Club at club level.
