Zimbabwe were defeated by 5 wickets last night by Sri Lanka in a match that had many twists and turns. Fantastic batting early on by Hamilton Masakadza, which included two huge sixes, set the team up for a large total. Unfortunately no other batsman other than Taibu, 45*, managed to make a reasonable contribution and the team was limited to 8/106 after 17 overs (reduced from 20 due to a wet outfield, with play beginning 1 hour after the scheduled start).

Two poor overs by Chris Mpofu, opening the bowling, made the going tough for Zimbabwe but an Elton Chigumbura wicket and some very economical overs by Tawanda Mupariwa swung the match into Zimbabwe's favour. Ray Price took 2/9 from 4 overs to set some panic into the Sri Lankan batsmen, but ultimately some poor captaincy decisions cost Zimbabwe the match after Utseya handed Keith Dabengwa (0/21 from 2 overs) the ball while Timycen Maruma and Elton Chigumbura still had overs in hand.
