Following on from yesterdays article about Zimbabwean players currently in England, it has recently emerged that Brendan Taylor is currently playing for the Lashings World XI, alongside former Zimbabwean fast bowler Henry Olonga.

The current squad consists of: Richie Richardson (WI/c), Jimmy Adams (WI), Marvan Atapattu (SL), Tino Best (WI), Greg Blewett (AUS), Clare Connor (ENG), Phil Defreitas (ENG), John Emburey (ENG), Ed Giddins (ENG), Gordon Greenidge (WI), Chris Harris (NZ), Adam Hollioake (ENG), Nilesh Kulkarni (IND), Rashid Latif (PAK), Devon Malcolm (ENG), Dinish Mongia (IND), Alan Mullaly (ENG), Henry Olonga (ZIM), Phil Simmons (WI), Peter Such (ENG), Brendan Taylor (ZIM).

Chris Cairns pulled out of the squad due to personal reasons, while Herschelle Gibbs and Sachin Tendulkar will join the squad in the coming months.

It is still to be seen what the situation is between Taylor and the Zimbabwe board, but after a statement by Lovemore Banda, the ZC media manager, was released it appears that the crisis may have been averted, although there has yet to be any official confirmation of Taylor's position from either party.

Meanwhile, Ed Rainsford is playing for Gloucestershire 2nd XI in the county cricket competition. This is most likely a result of Anthony Ireland's involvement, as Ireland plays for the Gloucestershire 1st XI.
