Zimbabwe announce squad for second SuperSport Challenge match

The week started with controversy, with some Zimbabwe Cricket officials claiming the inclusions of Raymond Price and Sean Williams meant the team was biased on racial grounds. As it turns out, the concern was because 5 players of the 17 man squad, less than a third, was white.

Now, more than ever, it is most important for Zimbabwe to field a full strength side, regardless of race. If Zimbabwe are to make a return to Test cricket next year, they need to prove themselves by winning consistently and comprehensively at First Class level.

The second SuperSport Challenge match is to be played at the Paarl ground in South Africa. The South African Compositive XI, made up from the best players of both the SuperSport Series and the second tier Provincial Challenge, will again be led by Ben Hector, who was the teams standout player in the first match.
