Taylor earns new ZC contract

Several weeks ago it was reported on Cricinfo.com that Zimbabwe Cricket had offered central contracts to 18 players.

On the "A+" type contract was captain Prosper Utseya, while "A" level contracts went to Gary Brent, Tatenda Taibu and Vusi Sibanda.

Taylor was given a "C" level contract, the lowest on offer. Considering he was, and still is, Zimbabwe's current leading ODI run scorer and has the highest ODI average in the team, this was a surprising decision.

However, since his amazing performances in the Twenty20 World Cup, Taylor has been upgraded to an "A" level contract, a well deserved raise.

It is not known who else has had their contract upgraded, although it is suspected that, among others, Elton Chigumbura has been upgraded from a "B" level to an "A" level.

In other news, Alester Maregwade has reportedly smashed an unbeaten double century for Takashinga 2 against Glenshire at the ZC Academy in a Vigne Cup match. Takashinga 2 defeated Glenshire, although a scorecard has not yet been released.
