Club cricket underway again in Zimbabwe

The Harare Metropolitan League got underway last Saturday with several practise matches. The three matches were Old Hararians vs Old Malvernians, Royal Cricket Club vs Harare Sports Club and Millennium vs Glenshire.

Old Hararians were all class, scoring 319 all out. Mohammad Sad Khan led the way with 68, while Nyasha Chari added 61. Contributions in the 40's from Victor Chaitezvi (41) and Tawanda Chitaka (40) added to Old Malvernians worries. Mukoki was OM's best bowler, with figures of 4/42.

Cephas Zhuwawo added 72 in OM's reply of 227 all out from 45.3 overs. Zimbabwe Test batsman Mark Vermeulen, was effective with his gentle offbreaks, taking 2/39.

Between Royal and Harare Sports Club, Tendai Mashonganyika was all class, adding 107 of Royal's 9/313 from 50 overs. Admire Manyumwa added 59. Mbofana led the list of wicket takers, with 3/54, while former international David Mutendera was impressive, with 2/42.

E. Rioga made an unbeaten 56 in what was a poor effort by HSC, 116 all out in 31 overs. Blessing Mahwire was most effective with 3/15.

Zimbabwe Cricket have not yet released the results for the third match, between Millenium and Glenshire.
