Brendan Taylor to become Zim's 7th highest ODI run scorer

Brendan Taylor will almost certainly become Zimbabwe's seventh highest run scorer in one day internationals at the closure of the upcoming five match series against the West Indies. Currently, Taylor is the country's ninth highest run scorer, ahead of Neil Johnson (10) and Tatenda Taibu (11).

Taylor has scored 1706 runs in ODI's, averaging 28.43 and a score of fifty-plus every 6 innings. Craig Wishart has 1719 ODI runs, and will be Taylor's first target. Murray Goodwin has scored 1818 ODI runs, and is currently the country's seventh highest run scorer.

If Brendan Taylor scores 113 runs or more in the upcoming ODI series, he will become Zimbabwe's seventh highest ODI run scorer. Back to where he performs best, as opener, Taylor needs to average just 22.60 per innings to reach the position.

Guy Whittall, Stuart Carlisle and Heath Streak have 2705, 2740 and 2901 ODI runs respectively, so it is quite possible that Brendan Taylor could be in fourth position with the next 2 years.

The upcoming series against the West Indies begins later this month. Hamilton Masakadza is once again available for selection, after having overcome an injury, and performing well for the Zimbabwe Provinces in the South African domestic competition.
