In the next edition of the ICC World Twenty20, Zimbabwe have been grouped with New Zealand and Sri Lanka in group C.

The 2010 tournament will be played in West Indies. Zimbabwe have yet to play New Zealand in Twenty20 cricket, but have clashed with Sri Lanka previously in the 2008 Al Barakah Cup tournament in Canada. The Sri Lankans were troubled by Ray Price who took 2/9 in 4 overs, but ultimately went on to win the match by 5 wickets.

The Zimbabweans struggled against Ajantha Mendis, the mystery spinner who took 4/15 from 4 overs. Tatenda Taibu had no such trouble though, top scoring with 40 not out.

The group is not as difficult as the one Zimbabwe was placed in before the 2007 ICC World Twenty20. In that tournament, Zimbabwe was faced with Australia and England before memorably scoring a huge win against the cricketing giants Australia thanks to a superb allround effort from Brendan Taylor including 60 not out.

Next years ICC World Twenty20 will start on May 1 between Pakistan and Bangladesh. The final will be held in Barbados at Kensington Oval on May 16.
