At one stage Hove seemed to be on the fringes of the national team, after opening many an innings for Zimbabwe A. But averaging under 20 in First Class cricket, he fell out of favour with the national selectors. In 2007, even the Bulawayo Athletic Club selectors lost faith. He has since moved to Harare to play club cricket, and broke into the Southerns first eleven late in the 2008 domestic season.
