Frighteningly good at domestic level, with 50 First Class wickets from 12 matches between 2006 and 2007, Maruma was selected for the ODI side too early, and failed to impress, conceding 0/74 from his 2 matches against South Africa in Ausgust 2007. A bit of a swing-at-everything slogger, he can sometimes be a useful lower order batsman, as he proved with a quick-fire 71 against a PCB Patrons XI in 2008.
He earned an international recall for the Canada Twenty20 quadrangular, and kept his place in the first eleven for the subsequent ODI triangular series in Kenya.
