Cremer, Alexander Graeme

Major Teams Represented: Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Provinces, Northerns, Harare Sports Club
Born: 1986

Cricinfo.com say Graeme Cremer is not the next wrist spin genius. I have to disagree. He is Zimbabwe's most reliable Test spin bowler, apart from perhaps Ray Price. He was thrown into the Test arena at just age 18, and yet he managed to hold his own. He averaged 45 with the ball, but did take 13 wickets from 6 Tests. At a time when Zimbabwe was doing very poorly, this was quite an achievement. For mine, he is an automatic selection when Zimbabwe return to Test matches. He scored 171 not out in one Logan Cup match, and has been useful with the bat on several occasions since then, suggesting he has been working on his batting technique. He averages mid 30's in domestic one day matches. He is a permanent fixture in the Northerns lineup and the Harare Sports Club lineup. The national selectors have been impressed by Cremer, and as such he has made Zimbabwe's limited overs squads in recent times. He made his ODI debut against Kenya in January 2009, 4 years and 221 days after his Test debut in 2005. His debut series was outstanding, he took 15 wickets at 11.46.
